PHOTOGRAPHY - NATURE: Seyðisfjörður, Iceland

One of the locations for this project was Seyðisfjörður, Iceland - (Sāy•this•fjör•thur) a fjord in the eastern region of Iceland. A small town of the same name sits at the innermost point of the fjord. It has the ruins of a stave church that's been carbon-dated to the 10th century along with graves dating back to the 8th century.

There are several waterfalls right in town. Further up the river there are over 25 waterfalls. A popular hiking path follows the Fjarðará river that flows from the mountain highlands all the way down through the center of town. During the winter, a skiing area is used in the Fjarðarheiði mountain pass. It's a great example of the power of professional photography. You can certainly tell someone about this place, but once you show them a picture; that's when they're hooked.

Like many of the media elements produced by Upstate Pictures this gallery was shot in conjunction with a larger production which included 4K video, drone footage and hi-res digital photography. Not only can images like this be incorporated to campaigns for local hotels, restaurants, travel services, but also for regional municipalities, non-profits and national agencies looking to connect with international tourist and clientele. These photos have already been used in blogs, websites, social media channels and print ads.

In related media notes the 2015 Icelandic television series Trapped (Icelandic: Ófærð) is set in the town and was partially filmed there. The series aired on BBC4 in the UK in early 2016.
